Ransom Canyon Property Owners Association

Hi neighbors! Here are the highlights from our latest POA meeting—thank you to everyone who showed up, asked thoughtful questions, and keeps our canyon community strong.
The Treasurer's Report: The POA is financially stable with $300,000 in the bank with a new worth now exceeding $1,000,000. Steady rentals contributed to a positive year. Assessments have been distributed; if you or a neighbor did not receive one, please contact us for a resend. Judy has being doing a great job of reconciling past due invoices. We have just a few property owners who are multiple years behind and we are working on addressing those.
For more details, please see the Agendas and Minutes.
Ranch House Report: The Ranch House is off to a great start for 2026, with a strong event calendar already underway. We currently have 37 paid events booked, reflecting continued interest in the Ranch House as a valued community gathering space.
To better support these events and improve the overall experience, the Board has approved the purchase of new tables. Many of the existing tables are currently worn, unstable, and temporarily repaired, so replacing them will enhance both safety and functionality for residents and guests.
Prior to the recent Board meeting, members conducted a walk-through of the property with Chelsea to identify areas in need of attention. Several items were noted.
A special thank you to Chelsea, who has done an excellent job developing a priority list of projects and presenting it to the Board. This list will help guide decision-making as we plan for both immediate needs and long-term improvements.
The Board will be taking all of these items into consideration as we prepare for the Annual Budget Meeting on April 7.
The Board’s goal remains to preserve, maintain, and enhance the Ranch House so it continues to be a place our community can enjoy for years to come. We appreciate your continued support as we work through these updates thoughtfully and responsibly.
POA Dues: Invoices are sent out in December each year via mail or email. Annual POA dues ($60) are due by March 1st. If you prefer email, know that the invoice comes from quickbooks@notification.intuit.com.
Payment by check - You can mail check to Ransom Canyon POA Box A Ransom Canyon, TX 79366.
Payment online - To pay online you must receive the emailed invoice then click on the black box that says "Review and Pay". There is not a specific website you can visit. Invoices are tied to Quickbooks. If you have any questions, need to update your address or email please contact. Treasurer Judy Lane judylaney0@icloud.com.
All invoices for the annual assessment have been emailed or mailed.

April 7th Annual Meeting: If you are interested in volunteering for the Property Owners Association board, there will be three open positions available. Starting in April, it is a commitment of two years. The roles and time requirements are flexible depending on the position filled. Please email (poa@ransomcanyonpoa.org) a brief description of yourself and your reasons for wanting to serve on the board. This information will be shared with all our neighbors. I also recommend reviewing our bylaws to familiarize yourself with the different positions. The election will take place at the April 7th meeting.
In the coming days the financial reports and ballot will be posted to the website. You will also be receiving a postcard notification in the mail. The Board has a lot that needs to be accomplished and requires the memberships vote to move forward.
You can cast your vote:
In person on April 7th at 6:30pm at the Ranch House
Online from March 31st until April 7th at 6pm

The Chapel Board honored Linda Williams for her years of service on the Chapel Board. She served as Chapel President for 17 years. Longer than any Board President. The Board voted to make her an honorary Board Member.
The Board honored her again on Sunday, February 9th, for her dedication to the Chapel Board all these years. David Hurt, President of the Chapel Board, presented her with a plaque that will be placed in the Chapel courtyard in her honor and to the glory of God.
Not only does Linda have a love for the Chapel, she loves the Canyon and always attends City Counsel meetings and POA meetings. She truly lets her light shine for Jesus. Thank you Linda Williams.

The City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at City Hall.
Agendas are posted by 4:00pm the Friday before the meeting on the bulletin board at City Hall and on our website.
Garbage City Collection Station
The City Council met on February 11, 2026, and they made some adjustments to the policy that
has been discussed in the last couple of months for utilization of the garbage citizen collection
station. The City Council will discuss these changes in March and April to allow more
flexibility and usage for residents so that a resident may use the collection station up to fifteen
times annually prior to adding any additional costs for usage. After the fifteenth visit per year, a
fee of $100.00 per use will be added to the utility bill. For instance, if a resident uses the service
17 times in that year, they will be charged $200.00. If used, 18 times, a charge of $300.00 will
appear in the utility bill. This ordinance will go through two readings by the City Council before
adoption.
When using the citizen collection station, grass clippings must be bagged, and tree limbs cut by
residents must be trimmed into pieces no longer than two feet. If work is completed by a
contractor, you must provide a personal container for disposal or ensure the contractor hauls the
debris directly to the Lubbock or Plainview landfill. This helps keep all costs low for the
residents.
Golf Cart Renewal
It is time to renew your golf cart permit for the upcoming year at the Town of Ransom Canyon
City Hall. Golf cart permits are renewed every two years. As part of the renewal process, the
Police Department will conduct an inspection to ensure the golf cart meets city requirements.
Please call the Police Department at the following number: (806) 810-2067.
Golf carts must not be capable of exceeding 25 miles per hour on a paved surface. Off-road
vehicles, including four-wheelers and all-terrain vehicles, are not permitted. At a minimum, each
golf cart must be equipped with two headlamps, two tail lamps, side reflectors, rearview
mirror(s), and a parking brake.
A registration permit is required to operate a golf cart within the city limits and must be
purchased every two years at a cost of $100.00. Permits expire on December 31 of the second
year. If a golf cart does not pass the initial inspection and requires re-inspection, an additional fee
of $20.00 will apply.
