Ransom Canyon Property Owners Association
April was certainly an eventful and productive month for the Ransom Canyon community. From increased homeowner participation to important discussions shaping the future of our neighborhood, the month highlighted just how engaged and passionate our residents are about preserving and improving the place we all call home.
April was truly exhilarating with a fantastic turnout and enthusiastic participation in community governance matters! A huge shoutout to the Election Oversight Committee (Adam Behnke, Gayla Buxkemper, and Dawna Gillespie) for generously volunteering their time to count votes and certify our election process. We are thrilled to announce that the Bylaw Amendments, Capital Expenditures, Annual Budget, election of board members, and the audit of incumbents presented during the recent meetings all passed with flying colors. The incredible involvement from property owners showcased a united commitment to the ongoing success and stewardship of Ransom Canyon. This was the most remarkable voter participation we have ever recorded. Thank you to all the residents for taking the time to vote!
Additionally, the community had the opportunity to “check the temperature” on several proposed changes to the deed restrictions. These discussions generated thoughtful conversation and valuable feedback from residents. The informational voting results and related materials have been posted to the community website for all members to review.
It is important to remember, however, that while bylaw amendments may be approved by a majority of a quorum present, amendments to the deed restrictions follow a much higher legal standard. Any official changes to the deed restrictions require approval by two-thirds (2/3) of the entire membership — not simply a majority vote of those attending a meeting. This distinction is significant and ensures that any long-term changes to our governing restrictions reflect broad support across the community.
Beyond governance matters, April also brought renewed energy to the Canyon as spring arrived in full force. Neighbors gathered, outdoor spaces came alive, and the beauty of the Canyon reminded us why so many are proud to call Ransom Canyon home.
Thank you to everyone who attended meetings, volunteered time, shared feedback, and stayed engaged throughout the month. Community participation remains one of Ransom Canyon’s greatest strengths, and April was a wonderful reminder of what can be accomplished when residents stay informed and involved.

We had a wonderful Easter sunrise service in the parking lot at the Chapel. We had the perfect backdrop for the day with the three crosses in the background. Ransom Canyon Fellowship Church joined us with Jon Richardson singing a special and Pastor Tyler bringing a message. Pastor Mark from the Chapel gave a message with Yvonne Minnick signing the song "I Know A Name" at the end of the service. We appreciate everyone who came. It was pretty chilly but no one seemed to mind because it was a celebration of the risen Savior.
Paden Whetzel came this past Sunday, April 12th, and shared his ministry of going to Costa Rica as a missionary.

Boat Permit Season Available Through the City
As the weather warms up and lake activity increases, it is that time of year when residents will be
obtaining boat permits. The City would like to remind everyone of the regulations regarding boat
and personal watercraft permits and lake use.
Boat and Personal Watercraft Registration
All boats and personal watercraft operated within the city limits must display a recreational
permit issued by the City. The permit must be permanently displayed on the stern or right-
hand side of the vessel.
The annual permit fee is $40.00 for boats that are required to be registered with the State.
Permits are valid for one calendar year, running from January 1st through December 31st.
Permits may be obtained by contacting the Police Department or visiting City Hall during regular business hours.
Before a recreational permit can be issued, owners must provide:
Proof of ownership
Proof of city residency or property ownership within the city
A current registration certificate from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
The City Council may also authorize boat registrations without a fee for special recreational events.
Boat Size and Equipment Restrictions
To ensure safety on the lake, the following restrictions are in place:
Boats may not exceed 24 feet in length.
Boats may not exceed 200 horsepower, based on the manufacturer’s specifications.
Boats that were legally registered in previous years may continue to operate as long as their registration has not been interrupted.
All boat motors must emit exhaust below the water surface.
Jet boats are not permitted.
Jet drive personal watercraft are allowed.
Friendly Reminder
If you plan to enjoy the lake this season, please make sure your boat permit is up to date before
operating on the water. These regulations help maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for
all residents.
For questions or to obtain your permit, please contact the Police Department or visit City Hall
during regular business hours. We look forward to another great season on the lake!
